Real Rainy Hudson Valley Weddings

Four Rainy Real Hudson Valley Weddings
This week's real Hudson Valley wedding is actually a series of weddings...four exceptional, rainy weddings held right here in NY and photographed by the talented Elissa Davidson Ozegovich.
In case you didn't notice, we had a particularly rainy 2009 wedding season. (Yeah, my umbrella was practically glued to my hand this summer.)
Which brings up the question: what do you do if it rains on your wedding day?
Well, if you've got a creative, shoot till you drop photographer like Elissa, you've got nothing to worry about.
Some tips from Elissa...
• Know that rain is a possibility. Decide that no matter the weather, you are there to be with the person you love.
• Know your site. Liz & Daniel had no floor in for their tent, which meant guests were standing in six inches of water and mud!
• If it rains, as soon as it lets up, run outside to take advantage of it.
• Above all, GO WITH THE FLOW!
Rainy photo ops are the new sunset shot when it comes to weddings. Elissa actually met with a bride recently who is actually hoping for rain so that she can get umbrella pics like these.
Elissa's Rainy Wedding 2009 Highlights...
Tara & Paul - Patriot Hills Golf Club
Tara and Paul married on June 20, 2009 at St. Martin DePorres and the reception followed at Patriot Hills Golf Club in Stony Point, NY.
Both the bride and groom were phenomenal from the moment we began. These photos are some of my favorite highlights.

Liz & Daniel - home in Pawling
Liz and Daniel were married under a tent in a torrential downpour. I've never been so wet working before; my pants were wet and muddy up to the knee!
The bride, groom and their families all handled the weather as if it were sunny and 70 degrees. People rolled up their pants, took off socks and shoes and partied till they dropped.
It was a BBQ style event with a blue grass band, roasted pig, gigantic beef ribs, corn on the cob and all sorts of pies to go along with wedding cake for dessert.
It all fit together perfectly and the bride and groom with their great attitude had a truly amazing day!

Megan & Nick - The Grandview
Megan and Nick's wedding took place at the Grandview in Poughkeepsie, NY, the perfect place for any weather.
Their attitude the whole day was "I'm marrying my best friend, so it doesn't matter what the weather is!"
We found an opportunity to run outside for pics and got caught on the way in with sprinkles!
Megan and Nick's entertainment was provided by DJ Bri Swatek.

Janine & Shawn - Bykenhulle House
Janine and Shawn got married at the Bykenhulle House in Hopewell Junction, NY. It was October 24th and you know every October bride dreams of a beautiful day with the perfect fall foliage. They had the perfect foliage and the best attitude for a rainy fall day.
We jumped on every chance to run outside for photos.
With the delicious food of Lola's Catering, the gorgeous environment of Bykenhulle House, and entertainment by DJ Domenic, Janine and Shawn rocked on their wedding day.

It was a very rainy day on October 24th 2009 but it was a special day for Janine & Shawn. The rain could not dampen these two Lovebirds Day. They had their own pool party out in the patio ... nice moves Shawn !!
